Venus & Dansk

Once again, as soon as I scanned a page from an old collage journal (lower left quadrant: red foil, Venus de Milo), I just had to start combining it with other images--like the Dansk candelabra which is just so graphic and graceful, and the rust cover of an old Russian book with such an lovely little silhouette. The vertical striped image on the upper left is from a photo of old painted paper--such a serene, and peaceful palette.

Piece full & Amethyst

So this is where it all began. The very first Desktop Diaries entry. I just happened to have a few of these images on my desktop at the same time and I found myself layering and sizing the various windows and thinking that it all looked so cool together. That's when I decided to do a screen grab before I moved any of the windows. The rest is history.

Antique color chart, marbled endpaper of an old book, mod fabric, vintage textile swatch book, gorgeous black and red scarf, combs, "Piece Full", about japanese Boro textiles, vintage mushroom textile, photo of a vintage Vanity Fair slip, antique swatch book, print of an amethyst crystal.

Lady Bayard, 1897

It was bound to happen. I finally started scanning some of the physical collages I've been creating for years, so now they are on my desktop too and exist as one more random image to digitally combine with others.

Paper candy cup, chewing gum foil, rose petal, add accessories postcard, graffitied "Hello my name is" sticker, Lady Bayard label on printed fabric, protractors, Victorian arrow brooch, kokeshi, gaming chips, spine of 1897 bound French fabric archive, a sliver of a bookcase.
